About IndiaSkills

The IndiaSkills Competition, organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, is the country’s premier skill competition platform. It is designed to benchmark the highest standards of skill excellence and provide India’s youth with an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities at national and international levels.

Conducted every two years, the IndiaSkills Competition is supported by State Governments, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs), industry partners, corporates, and training institutions. The competition has a strong grassroots reach, enabling talent identification from district and state levels and fostering a culture of skill excellence across the country.

India has been participating in the WorldSkills Competitions since 2007. The selection of Indian competitors follows a structured pathway through District, State, and National-level skill competitions, culminating in representation at international platforms. The upcoming WorldSkills Competition will be held in Shanghai, China, in September 2026.

At the WorldSkills Competition 2024, India secured an overall 13th position, reflecting a strong and improving global performance. Indian Team Achievements included:

  • 4 Bronze Medals
  • 12 Medallions for Excellence

The IndiaSkills 2025–26 cycle continues this mission-identifying, nurturing, and preparing world-class talent to represent India on the global stage.

IndiaSkills 2025-26

Registration for the IndiaSkills Competition 2025-26 commenced on 22 July 2025 and has witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of 3.65 lakh registrations received till 15 October 2025 across 63 skills from 36 States and Union Territories. The competition follows a structured process, wherein District and State-level competitions are conducted across 35 States, leading to five Regional Competitions, which will culminate in the National Competition.
